"Marco Schneider is a german born, globetrotting actor, a filmmaker and an ardent surfer and motorcyclist."
-me, thinking this might be the best headline for google...
And now that we've got that out of the way... Hi, hello, it's me. I'm Marco.
That headline is true though... whenever I am not working as an actor and/or making my own indie films or working any other possible job to make ends meet, you are most likely going to find me either on a small-engined motorcycle in some more or less remote part of the world or at whatever surfing destination I was able to afford a plane ticket to.
Where am I now ?
At this point in time I am, once again, located in the Swiss mountains.
What's my background ?
My background lies in theatre, I've trained in Scotland, Germany and India, even though I've never managed to graduate due to, at times, either unfortunate circumstances or terrible life decisions (I'm going to blame either youth, stupidity or love for this depending on the scenario).
I've also attended plenty of courses and workshops over the years, from Voice lessons with Olivia Miller Ross and OnScreenActing workshops with Patrick Tucker in Glasgow, UK to Combat training in Sri Lanka.
My most recent work in theatre, before the pandemic put us all on hold, was a full run at the Fringe as Hector Joye in Cecile Durels "Leopold Vindictive" and the role of "Juror 10" in "the Jury" based on Reginald Roses "12 angry men".
My absolute dream would be to take on the role of Garry Essendine in a staging of Nöel Cowards "Present Laughter"... in case that happens to be exactly who you're looking for.
Sooooo.... what's MY pandemic story ?
A little while after my time in Scotland had come to an end, still a few months ahead of the moment when CoVid decided to show up and -excuse my language... fuck us over, was when I decided to relocate to Mumbai, India. I was planning to dive head first into the local theatre scene, which I to this day deeply admire, and knock on the doors of Bollywood. Once I attended a number of workshops, plays, language classes and got fully acclimatised... the world went into lock down and saw me fleeing to the more sparsely populated beaches of Sri Lanka, where I stayed for the following TWO years.
After some initial troubles.... let's cut the crap here: I, like so many of us, did not handle this whole thing well, not at the start and not half way through...existential dread from dusk till dawn, depression, you name it, like so many of us, but hey ! Hooray to all of us for holding fast and still being around ! It's been a rough ride for sure, but in all honesty I think I benefitted immensely from this time in regards to growing, both as a human and in my craft. And my feature film "ēkalanaya (isolation)" simply wouldn't be a thing without all the trouble beforehand.
Sooo... after the "initial troubles" I managed to pick up the pace and started to work on and develop my filmmaking skills, which for now have peaked with said feature film (which can be found in full on this sites FILM section.) And that's how Pawpawporridge started, that's my little filmmaking thing I have going at the moment.
Once my bank account got too close to bleeding dry, I returned to Switzerland, land of chocolate, snow covered mountains and high salaries in all positions to financially recover.
Where to from here on forward ?
Well....you tell me, amigo !
I've just released my latest film out into the ether and I am ready for more.
There are some short scripts ready to be put on Pawpawporridge tape in the hopefully not to distant future, once their time has come, but first and foremost...
I AM CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR REPRESENTATION, local and international.
I'm completely unbound and free to relocate to literally anywhere. Film, Stage, Acting, Directing, Writing... I want you to hit me as hard as you can. All my contact details can be found HERE.
Until then,
Sincerely...
Marco.
